DEAN AND BRITTA PLAY
13 MOST BEAUTIFUL … SONGS FOR ANDY WARHOL’S SCREEN TESTS
Thursday, February 18
If you’re a fan of Neko Case, Nada Surf or Yo La Tengo, do yourself a favor and discover Dean and Britta. This dynamic duo proves that a married couple can without question rock the Electro-Indie music scene.
Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips share lead vocals harmonized by soothing soft-rock melodies comparable to that of ’60s band The Velvet Underground. I couldn’t think of a more suitable band to accompany Andy Warhol’s experimental “Screen Tests.”
The music enhances the black-and-white moving images not only by providing a calm melody but by making the viewer feel as though they were back in the ’60s. The throwback quality of the sound lets the listener reflect on the historical context in which Warhol’s work was created. The sounds infect your senses and immerse you into a pensive state, overall enhancing the quality of these not-so-silent films.
Dean and Britta are sensational. Check out their website www.deanandbritta.com to prepare for the up-close and personal show.
