We did not pay Dave Muller to wear our T-shirt.
But we would have, if we’d thought of it!
The L.A.-based artist wore the T-shirt for “The Record: Contemporary Art and Vinyl” during a recent video created by the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. It’s part of LA MoCA’s “The Artist’s Museum” series about “eight significant artists who have produced some of the finest contemporary works in Los Angeles from 1980 to present day.”  In Dave Muller’s video, a sort of studio visit, he explains some of his ideas and processes behind his monumental works on paper depicting the spines of record albums. Two of Dave’s drawings (he calls them “portraits”) are part of “The Record” exhibition.
My favorite part of the video is when he stuffs a vinyl record into a shredder.
The T-shirt was designed by Taiyo Kimura, another artist whose work is part of “The Record” exhibition. On it, DJ Centipede and DJ Rat are taking turns on a record player.
Dave, the shirt looks great on you!
