Americans for the Arts has recently published a comprehensive, nationwide study on the economic impact of nonprofit arts and culture the industry. Their fourth iteration of this study – Arts and Economic Prosperity IV – covers all 50 states and the District of Columbia and quantifies the economic effect the arts have at both a nationwide and state-by-state level. Nationally, nonprofit arts and culture generate a staggering $135.2 billion in economic activity.
