NASHER MUSEUM OF ART AT DUKE UNIVERSITY

What is “Good” Art?

"Love Love Love" Stop Motion PieceBy Kirstie

What is “Good” Art? In an exciting art competition coming to East Campus next week, student artists must demonstrate ethical thinking through visual expression. A wide range of media is explored in “What is Good Art?” through photography, video, painting and even installation. The variety of work accepted for the competition promotes various interpretations of the link between art and ethics.

The distinguished panel of judges includes professors of art, music, documentary studies and ethical inquiry — including the director of the Nasher Museum, Kimerly Rorshach. Attendees will also have the chance to vote for their favorite piece for the Gallery Choice Prize.

The exhibition opening will be this Monday, April 5 at 7 p.m. in the Fredric Jameson Gallery located in the Friedl Building on East Campus. This is a catered event complete with hors d’eouvres and refreshments to accompany your viewing experience. It is open to the public and more information can be found on the Good Art event page on facebook. Or go to www.dukeethics.org
