NASHER MUSEUM OF ART AT DUKE UNIVERSITY

Picasso Saturday

by Juline Chevalier

This is the first weekend for Picasso and the Allure of Language and it’s great to see the museum buzzing with people.

It gets pretty sleepy here in the summer [like most college towns] and so having a steady stream of people coming in the door and through the galleries is exciting.

Museums are great social spaces.  Friends meet here, extended families come here on outings, college students returning for the new semester run into one another and you may even make a new friend .

You may get to talking to the person next to you in front of an artwork, and often the artwork itself comes to be your friend as you visit and re-visit a piece that draws you in.  So, come on by the Nasher, meet Picasso [well, his artworks], and bring a friend or make a new one.
