NASHER MUSEUM OF ART AT DUKE UNIVERSITY

The Magic of Calder

By Wendy

The (Durham) Herald-Sun’s reporter Melody Butts and photographer Christine Nguyen captured an exciting moment at the Nasher Museum for today’s paper.
“Yes, there’s magic reflected in the eyes of the thousands of students who so far have filed through the Nasher Museum of Art’s featured exhibition, ‘Alexander Calder and Contemporary Art: Form, Balance, Joy,’ she writes. “But as a gallery guide explains the science behind the art, one observes wheels turning behind those gazes of wonderment.”
Visitors experience this just about every morning, Tuesday through Friday, as the museum buzzes with visiting school groups. More than 3,600 school children have toured Calder. The “magic” of Calder, indeed!
