Picasso, the Poet

picasso

By Michelle Cho, Nasher Museum Intern

Did you know that Picasso wrote over 300 poems? Check out a poem he wrote in 1940 and transcribed as a lithograph:

Tuesday 5 November 40

on the blazing pyre where

the witch was roasting naked

I had fun

paying lip-service

to this afternoon

with my nails

gently flaying

the skin of all

the flames

at five past one

in the morning and later

now ten minutes

to three my fingers still

smelled of warm bread honey

and jasmine
