Truman Capote - A Christmas Memory

Nasher Reads: A Christmas Memory, written by Truman Capote - 11:00 AM

Join Nasher Museum staff for a group discussion of the short story “A Christmas Memory”, by Truman Capote. Featured on the Southern Accent reading list, “A Christmas Memory” explores the everlasting bond between two cousins and the importance that family members can play in each other’s happiness. Portions of the conversation will take place in the exhibition Southern Accent: Seeking the South in Contemporary Art.

 

Visitors are encouraged, but not required, to read the story prior to the discussion.

Join museum staff for group discussions of Strapless by Deborah Davis, a story of art and celebrity that centers around the John Singer Sargent portrait of Virginie Gautreau, a New Orleans native who became a 19th-Century “it girl” of Paris. The conversation will take place in The Collection Galleries and include a discussion of the portrait Mrs. John Camfield Tomlinson, nee Dora Grant (1904), by John Singer Sargent.
