New Bicycle Tours: Downtown Durham Murals

Bicycle Tours: Downtown Durham Murals - 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM

Explore the beautiful murals of downtown Durham by bicycle with tours co-organized by Preservation Durham, the Museum of Durham History and the Nasher Museum.  Approximately 13 murals will be featured, including Time Bridge by Odili Donald Odita commissioned by the Nasher Museum, at the Downtown Durham YMCA. Experienced cyclists will guide each tour, which last about 90-minutes (5 miles in length).
 
Tours run every first Saturday from May through November starting at 10 AM and departing from the Durham Central Park pavilion. Please check in 15 minutes early. Helmets required.
 
Free and open to the public. Tours are designed for anyone with a bicycle and comfortable riding on city streets. An interactive map of the tour is available via Ride With GPS.

Nasher Creates - Saturday Sketch

New! Creative Writing in the Galleries: Art and Your Imagination (Three Part Series) - 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Three Saturdays: June 10, 17, 24 10AM–Noon

 

Series fee per person: $40 (includes admission)

 

Join Mara Shurgot for three consecutive creative writing workshops. All are welcome! Both beginners and experienced authors will experiment
with new inspiration from the magical and mystical works included in All Matterings of Mind, as well as the museum’s collection. Using prompts and writing exercises, participants can explore elements ranging from plot and character to setting, dialogue and point-of-view in a dynamic interplay between art and your own imagination.

 

Registration is available first to museum members starting Wednesday, April 26.

 

Registration is open to all starting Wednesday, May 10.
