Modern Classics of Catalan Literature: The Painter of Battles by Arturo Perez-Reverte.
In anticipation of the exhibition Miro: The Experience of Seeing (opens September 14), the museum’s September book programs will discuss The Painter of Battles. Written by the Spanish author Arturo Perez-Reverte, this book considers issues of love and war as an award-winning war photographer at the end of his life meets a stranger and reflects on the atrocities he photographed, the social responsibility of the artist, and the consequences of choice.
Associate Curator of Education Jessica Ruhle will lead the conversations on this novel. Discussions will be on Wednesday, September 10 at 11 AM and repeated on Sunday, September 14 at 2 PM. Visitors are encouraged to read the book prior to discussions. The Painter of Battles is available for purchase in the Nasher Museum Store.
