Join K-12 educators to learn how you can bring Islamic art and culture into your classroom!
The program will include slide lectures, hands-on art activities, creative writing and performances by local musicians and dancers.
Presenters and topics:
Robin Holmes, Research Fellow in Art History at UNC Chapel Hill – Introduction to Islamic Art
Chris Vitiello, Poet and Educator – Creative Writing in Islamic Traditions
Penny Maguire, Former K-12 Teacher – Incorporating Islamic Culture into Your Classroom
Participants will receive CEU credits and interdisciplinary curriculum-based materials.
This workshop will preview the exhibition Doris Duke’s Shangri La: Architecture, Landscape, and Islamic Art.
The registration fee includes lunch from the Nasher Café, as well as printed classroom materials.
