Volunteer with the Nasher and see the Picasso exhibition for FREE!
You can earn FREE tickets to the upcoming "Picasso and the Allure of Language" exhibition by volunteering your time! Each ticket is a $10 value.
We are gearing up for our next exciting ticketed exhibition called "Picasso and the Allure of Language," and we hope you can volunteer.
The exhibition will run from August 20, 2009 to January 3, 2010. Tickets will cost $10 for an adult. Nasher Museum members will be able to obtain 2 free tickets per day per membership!
We will need help in three main areas:
Audio Guide desk - selling and distributing audio guides.
Ticket Taker - tear tickets, check bag size, welcome to exhibition.
Floater (weekends and potentially busy week-days) - roam, help people way-find, answer questions, etc.
Shifts will be between 2 and 3 hours long:
Tues, Wed., Fri., and Sat. shifts:
A: 10 AM - 12:30 PM (2.5 hrs)
B: 12:30 PM - 3 PM (2.5 hrs)
C: 3 - 5 PM (2 hrs.)
Thursday shifts:
D: 10 AM - 12:30 PM (2.5 hrs)
E: 12:30 PM - 3 PM (2.5 hrs)
F: 3 - 6 PM (3 hrs)
G: 6 - 9 PM (3 hrs)
Sunday Shifts:
H: 12 - 2:30 PM (2.5 hrs)
I: 2:30 - 5 PM (2.5 hrs)
We will hold training sessions on various days and times. You will need to attend only one training session. Currently we have scheduled the following days and times:
Thursday, July 23, 2009: 7 - 9 PM
Saturday July 25, 2009: 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Saturday July 25, 2009: 2 - 4 PM

Volunteering at the Nasher Museum
Volunteer opportunities at the Nasher Museum are open to those aged 16 years and older.
The museum does not have a volunteer coordinator on staff, therefore volunteer requests are handled exclusively via e-mail.
Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to:
- Helping children with craft projects during our free Family Days
- Staffing the information desk on our free Thursday evenings
- Representing the museum at local festivals and fairs
- Stuffing envelopes
- Data entry
- Miscellaneous office support
- Special event support
In the spring/summer of 2009 we are launching a Volunteer Speakers Bureau program. Please subscribe to the listserv below to receive further details.
Please join the Nasher volunteers e-mail listserv to receive updates on volunteer opportunities. Send an e-mail to sympa@duke.edu with "subscribe nasher-volunteers" in the body (not the subject) of the e-mail (without the quotation marks).
When volunteers are needed, announcements will be made via e-mail through the listserv and you will be asked to directly contact the appropriate museum staff member.
