Activity Instructions

Use Maid Cutting Ice, by John Sloan, or another artwork to play a matching game with facts and opinions. For example, students might match the statement “the maid is chopping ice” with “chopping ice is not fun.”

Other examples:

  • The setting is a city. / Cities are too crowded.
  • There is ice on the ground. / It’s easier to put salt on ice than to chop it.
  • The mail carrier is delivering something. / Getting something in the mail is fun.
