Artist Jim Roche: Spirit in the Land

Jim Roche: Spirit in the Land is a 6-minute video about the artist Jim Roche, whose work is part of the exhibition Spirit in the Land. In this video, viewers visit the artist’s home in Tallahassee, Florida, where he talks about a lifetime of making art related to the natural world. The camera pans across his 10-panel work, Return to Florida, All in My Background: Piece, which is part of the Nasher Museum’s collection. Viewers learn about Roche’s inspiration for this work and how the photographs related to the artist’s hand-written text. This video also features Roche’s wife Alexa Kleinbard, whose work is also part of Spirit in the Land.

This exhibition is organized by Trevor Schoonmaker, Mary D.B.T. and James H. Semans Director, Nasher Museum.
