June 19, 1865, widely known as Juneteenth, marks the day that enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom. In commemoration of the long-held fight for freedom, we invite you to celebrate Juneteenth at the Nasher! This event will feature performances by spoken word artists, a poetry writing workshop, interactive art experiences and more. Cash bar. FREE parking.
The museum is closed Wednesday, June 19, in observance of the national holiday.
