Twenty Years of Campus Collaborations
CARMICHAEL ACADEMIC FOCUS GALLERY
Since it opened in 2005, the Nasher Museum of Art has been a central space for art at Duke University and in the Durham community. Connected closely with Duke’s students, faculty, and researchers, the museum has served as a place for creative exploration, learning, and conversation. For the past twenty years, the idea of the museum as a classroom has been at the heart of the Nasher’s work. This exhibition highlights the many ways students and faculty have collaborated with the museum—from curating exhibitions to contributing their own research and artwork.
Twenty Years of Campus Collaborations showcases the rich and varied partnerships that have shaped the museum from 2005 to 2025. It celebrates student involvement, faculty scholarship, and the exciting possibilities for future collaboration. The exhibition was curated by Hailey Kasney (T’26), a Carmichael Intern and student in the Museum Theory & Practice concentration, together with Julia McHugh, Trent A. Carmichael Director of Academic Initiatives and Curator of Arts of the Americas.
