Duke Professor Rebecca Stein, a leading scholar in the field of Middle Eastern studies, and 15 undergraduate students in her Human Rights on Camera class visited the Nasher Museum to experience the outdoor art installation RESIST COVID / TAKE 6!  by artist Carrie Mae Weems. The students wore masks and practiced social distancing as they viewed large banners and window clings at the Nasher Museum and Rubenstein Arts Center across the street.

Jessica Ruhle, Director of Education at the Nasher Museum, and Gallery Guide Ruth Caccavale, led the students in discussions about how this project helps to combat misperceptions about the COVID-19 virus and celebrates front line workers.

The Nasher Museum is open by appointment to Duke faculty, classes and students during Fall 2020. To make an appointment, fill out the class request form on the Duke Community page.
