At the Nasher Museum, our Friends Board plays a vital role in shaping and supporting our mission, and we are continually grateful for the dedication and care of its members.
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Marcy Tucker, a cherished member of this Board, who died on March 19 after a courageous two-year battle with Stage IV colon cancer.
Marcy was a thoughtful and generous presence within our community. She brought kindness, insight, and a deep commitment to the Nasher’s mission. Whether through her steady support, her engagement with our programs, or her genuine interest in connecting people to art and to one another, Marcy’s contributions enriched our work in lasting ways. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Marcy’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
A beautiful memorial service was held for Marcy on March 24 at Judea Reform Congregation in Durham. Friends, family, and members of the community gathered to honor her life, share memories, and celebrate the warmth, generosity, and spirit she brought to those around her. The service was a moving reflection of the deep connections she fostered throughout her life.
Those who wish to read more about Marcy’s life may do so HERE.
As we reflect on this moment, we are reminded of the strength and compassion of our community, and of the many ways individuals like Marcy help shape the Nasher into a place of connection, creativity, and care. We honor her legacy by continuing to nurture the sense of belonging and shared purpose that she so deeply valued.
