Annual Semans Lecture
ANNUAL SEMANS LECTURE: MATTHEW GALE / Thursday, January 22, 7 PM / The Nasher Museum welcomes Matthew Gale, Curator (Modern Art) and Head of Displays at Tate Modern in London. He will deliver the Annual Semans Lecture on Joan Miró in the lecture hall. Free and open to all. Please allow additional time for parking. Reception with cash bar to follow.

Ferdinand book readings at 12:15 and 2:15 PM; Flamenco performances at 1:15 and 3:15 PM. Free admission to all exhibitions, including Miró: The Experience of Seeing.

MIRÓ: VISUAL POETRY / Thursday, January 29, 5:30 PM / Miró is known to have said “I make no distinction between painting and poetry.” Experience the later works of the artist during readings in English and Spanish of contemporary Spanish poetry. Same day exhibition ticket required for gallery entrance.

ME TOO MONOLOGUES PRESENTS DURHAM GROWN / Tuesday, February 24, 7:30 PM at Duke Coffeehouse (East Campus) / Duke students from Durham said that they feel as if they are outsiders at Duke. This sparked "Durham Grown," a way to build community and understanding through storytelling. Duke University's Me Too Monologues is calling on Duke students, alumni, faculty and staff from Durham to anonymously submit their stories (1 page or less) to be performed at the event on Feb 24; story submission deadline is Jan 23.

The Shadow of the Wind

To accompany the exhibition Miró, the museum hosts book discussions featuring contemporary Catalan authors. January's selection is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

Sunday, February 8, 2 PM and Wednesday, February 11, 11 AM at the Nasher Museum. Visitors are encouraged to read the book prior to the discussions. The book is available for purchase in the Nasher Museum Store.
