To accompany the Nasher Museum’s focus on contemporary art, this month’s book for discussion, Seven Days in the Art World by Sarah Thornton, takes the reader on a behind the scenes tour of the contemporary art world. Each of the seven chapters portrays a different ‘day in the life’ of characters in various careers in the industry. With a background in sociology, author Sarah Thornton captures the motivations and subtleties behind what occurs in the artist’s studio, the auction house, and everywhere in between.
As part of our Summer Days Nasher Nights series, Associate Curator of Education Jessica Ruhle will lead the discussion on this novel. Discussions will be on Wednesday, August 6 at 11 AM and repeated on Sunday, August 10 at 2 PM. Visitors are encouraged to read the book prior to the discussions. Seven Days in the Art World is available for purchase in the Nasher Museum Store.
