Past Exhibitions / Romare Bearden

March 3, 2012 - August 26, 2012

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of American artist Romare Bearden’s birthday, the Nasher Museum took part in a project organized by the Bearden Foundation entitled Romare Bearden: 20th Century American Master. The installation of Bearden works alongside other American artists of his generation came from the museum’s permanent collection and loans from local private collections. Best known for his collages, which he began producing in 1964, Bearden also worked throughout his career in the visual language of Cubism. For this reason, the installation included works on paper by Albert Gleizes, August Herbin, Felrath Hines and Max Weber.
