A Concert for Valentine’s Day: Madrigals of Love & War is a story of ardent lovers told in the passionate language of the 17th-century madrigal. The music is by the great Venetian composer Claudio Monteverdi (1567–1643), including the exquisite composition Lamento della Ninfa. The musicians include: Andrea Edith Moore, soprano; Henry Branson, tenor; David Rugger, baritone; and members of Duke Vespers Ensemble. The performance is directed by Dr. Philip Cave, associate conductor for Chapel Music at Duke University Chapel. Admission is free. Complementary valet parking at the Anderson Street entrance.
