M.J. Sharp, a Lecturing Fellow at Duke’s Center for Documentary Studies, whose work is part of Across County Lines, will lead a four-hour workshop on long-exposure photography. Space is limited. Fee is $50.
Bring any cameras you have, whether you know how to use them or not. Key will be the ability to adjust the shutter speed manually. Digital is fine, and film is fine (often better, in fact, though you won’t be able to see your results immediately). If you don’t have a camera, don’t worry—you can still benefit from the workshop. In addition to practicing some long-exposure shooting, we will be examining and discussing photographs that have been produced with this technique.
