An exciting fall 2019 semester opened with the party to celebrate Art for a New Understanding: Native Voices, 1950s to Now, the first major survey of contemporary Indigenous art. More than 1,200 people thronged the new Sculpture Garden for the opening event.

Cosmic Rhythm Vibrations featured major new acquisitions. Visitors danced in the Sculpture Garden along with Lakota hip-hop artist Frank Waln and the Sampson Brothers. Students filled the galleries, Duke alumni visited—and much more! Photos by J Caldwell.
